Enough is Enough: Matthew Reardon’s Message to the Governor, AG, and DOJ.
THIS IS MY PUBLIC ADDRESS to the Governor of Mississippi, the Attorney General, and the United States Department of Justice.
On July 3rd, 2025, I was assaulted by a Mississippi State Trooper while peacefully protesting outside the Governor’s Mansion — on public property.
This wasn’t a misunderstanding. It was a targeted act of state-sponsored retaliation against a journalist lawfully exercising First Amendment rights.
This video lays it out — clear, direct, and uncompromising. Here’s what I’m demanding:

Federal Retaliation Caught on Camera: U.S. Marshal Threatens Journalist at Lafayette Courthouse
On June 23, 2025, investigative journalist Matthew Reardon entered the public lobby of the Lafayette, Louisiana federal courthouse to peacefully document patriotic displays and conduct a First Amendment audit.
What happened next was a chilling encounter with not one—but three federal officers, including U.S. Marshals Supervisor Jonathan, who issued veiled threats, ordered Reardon to leave the public space, and openly mocked his civil rights litigation.
When Matthew stood his ground and invoked the Constitution, Jonathan responded with,
“You want to be taken away in cuffs? You’re going to spend the night with us today.”

THIS is the full, uncut, CORRECTED video of the moment a journalist was silenced on U.S. soil — for asking questions.
On 5/15/25, investigative journalist Matthew Reardon (Don Matthews) entered a building at 660 S 200 E # 400 in Salt Lake City — home to both the Department of Homeland Security Immigration Office and the Mexican Consulate — to peacefully document matters of public concern.
What followed is a direct assault on the First Amendment:
• A private security guard calls the “building manager” on speakerphone — who threatens Reardon with jail.
• The manager falsely claims it’s private property, despite federal signage citing public access laws.
• Salt Lake City Police arrive, demand ID under threat of arrest, and issue a trespass warning — silencing protected press activity.
All of this happened inside a building serving the public, governed by federal regulations.
All of it was recorded.
And all of it is now being used as evidence in a forthcoming federal lawsuit under 42 U.S.C. § 1983.
