About

Matthew Reardon, also known as Don Matthews, is an investigative journalist, songwriter, civil rights activist, website and web application developer, and the founder and creator of We The People News, Civil Rights Hub, Tyrant Cam, and Bad Actors Music. Based in Mississippi, he has dedicated his career to exposing civil rights violations, holding institutions accountable, and amplifying the voices of citizens whose stories go untold by mainstream media.

As the driving force behind We The People News (WTPNEWS.ORG), Matthews has built an independent media platform focused on investigative journalism that challenges government overreach, corporate surveillance, and systemic violations of constitutional rights. His reporting combines boots-on-the-ground journalism with live-streaming documentation, creating a real-time record of the stories he covers.

Investigative Journalism

Matthews’ investigative work focuses on civil rights, law enforcement accountability, government transparency, and corporate surveillance. His reporting has exposed:

  • Corporate surveillance programs — including Flock Safety automated license plate reader networks secretly deployed at major retailers like Lowe’s and Home Depot, feeding customer data directly to law enforcement without disclosure
  • Civil rights violations — documenting firsthand encounters with government officials and law enforcement who violate citizens’ constitutional rights
  • Institutional corruption — holding local and national institutions accountable through investigative reports, public records analysis, and on-the-ground reporting

His work is published across We The People News and the Patriot News Activism YouTube channel, where his live investigations reach audiences nationwide.

Music & Songwriting

Under the Bad Actors music project, Matthews channels his activism and storytelling into original songwriting. The album “Bad Actors Volume 1” is a 17-track sonic case file documenting named corruption across North Mississippi and the Southeast — each track an affidavit set to music. Released as a free digital download, it addresses themes of justice, resistance, civil rights, and the American experience.

Featured tracks include “Silence Ain’t Consent,” “The Osteen Files (Exhibit L),” “Caught Red Handed,” “A Warrant For A Lie,” “Morgan County Blues,” and “Governors Gone Too Far.” His music is an extension of his journalism — using art to reach people where reporting alone cannot.

His musical project “Riding With The Outlaw” presented by Matthew Reardon further explores these themes through powerful lyrical storytelling.
