We The People News is committed to evidence-driven reporting, clear attribution, transparency about what is known and not known, and prompt correction of material factual errors.
Verification and sourcing
Our reporting prioritizes primary-source material whenever available, including court filings, public records, official correspondence, video, audio, photographs, and on-the-record statements. When information comes from a secondary source, we aim to identify that source clearly and distinguish documented fact from allegation, inference, analysis, or opinion.
Fairness and response
When reporting significant allegations about an identifiable person, agency, or organization, WTP News seeks relevant records and, when practical, an opportunity for the subject to respond. A refusal or failure to respond does not prevent publication when the underlying reporting is otherwise sufficiently documented.
Corrections
Material factual errors should be corrected as promptly as reasonably possible. Significant corrections may be noted within the article so readers can understand what changed. Minor spelling, grammar, formatting, or clarity edits may be made without a correction note when they do not alter the substance of the reporting.
To request a correction, email [email protected] and include the article URL, the specific statement you believe is inaccurate, and any records or other evidence supporting the correction.
Independence and conflicts
Editorial decisions are not sold to advertisers, donors, sources, public officials, or subjects of coverage. Financial support for WTP News does not purchase favorable reporting or veto power over coverage. When a material personal or organizational connection is relevant to a story, WTP News aims to disclose it to readers.
Reporting, commentary, and advocacy
WTP News covers constitutional rights and government accountability from a strong public-interest perspective. Where context requires it, we distinguish documented reporting from commentary, legal argument, editorial opinion, and advocacy so readers can evaluate the material on its own terms.
Privacy and sensitive material
Public records can contain private or sensitive information. Publication decisions should weigh the public interest against unnecessary harm, particularly where minors, victims, private contact information, medical information, or other sensitive material is involved.
