If your message concerns a specific story, agency, court case, public record, or incident, include enough detail to identify the matter and, when possible, links or copies of relevant source material. Clearly label allegations that have not been independently verified.

Sensitive information
Ordinary email is not a guaranteed secure channel. Do not send passwords, account credentials, or information you are legally prohibited from disclosing. If a tip involves unusually sensitive source material, make that clear in your first message so an appropriate communication method can be discussed.
